Interesting facts about me

www.dixieknapper.com
My name is Don Sutton I am retired and split my time between Las Vegas Nv and the Pine Valley Mountains of southern Utah. I like fishing, hunting, hiking, just about anything outdoors, my interest in flint knapping began years ago when I started hanging out on at a friend's cattle ranch and finding broken points and blades. Wondering who had made it and how it was used lead me to study about the Native People in the area, which in turn lead me to try and understand the making of stone tools. I reached out to a few folks who instruct on this subject and got a head start.
I was born in Omaha Nebraska , moved to Las Vegas Nevada as an infant, I Started with many odd jobs as a young man and soon learned how to paint automobiles. That job carried me into my early twenties where I started a long career in law enforcement. I recently retired from that and started the full time job of chillin' out and trying to break myself from stress. Knowing that I was going to retire at a young age ( how young ? ) I needed a hobby that kept my interest, so, what better than flintknapping ! and all that goes with it, I Made a few calls , First to Bo Earls ( Utah Valley Kanppers Association ) who would'nt let me get off the phone till I knew how to knap ! and then Craig Ratzat ( primitive camp instruction) and a very nice person . I read a lot of books and picked a ton of folk's brains, and a few years later and the hobby is now full blown . I also met and become good friends with Cliff Carney and Gregg Bertram , both local fellow flintknappers here in the Las Vegas area . I caught the fever, don't ask me how or why, it just happened, and I'm glad it did, I've met some of the nicest people from all over the world since taking up knapping and most all knappers have been really helpful, way too many folks to mention !!! PLEASE VIST MY SITE ,feel free to call me with questions ! ill help if i can ,sincere thanks Don

Thanks for the great bio, Don! Welcome to the site!

Southern Utah is a beautiful area! I hope to get to hunt there again some day.

Glad you found PaleoPlanet, and I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do!
